It’s only been a year since John Mayer released his last studio album The Search For Everything, and already he is back with a brand new single. The 90’s style album cover and photoshoots are interesting to say the least, but the song itself is superb. Take a listen:
A year ago I said that 2016 wasn’t the best year for new music, but it was considerably better than 2017 in my opinion. There haven’t been many new albums that have stood out, but the following are my favourites from the year.
Last month John Mayer released Wave One from his new album The Search For Everything, essentially the first four songs of the album. And today Mayer released the next four, Wave Two, and I’ve been listening to it non-stop all day. These four songs build on the brilliance of the first four and contain so many different vibes, tones and genres it’s unreal.
John Mayer has released the first four songs from his new album, The Search For Everything. It’s not a standard release process as he’s releasing four songs per month until the whole thing is out in full, which is certainly something fresh and unique. Wave One features four incredible songs including the first single Love On The Weekend which was released before Christmas last year. Each song is superb in their own unique way and if these four songs are anything to go by, The Search For Everything will be one of the best albums of 2017.
John Mayer’s first single since 2013 has dropped (not counting XO in 2014) and it’s like that country period that included his two previous studio albums never happened. Not that I dislike that period in any way at all of course, but this new single takes Mayer back to his brilliant pop music best. Take a listen:
