OPINION PIECE #6: Beatles Albums Ranked

The Beatles are one of my favourite bands so I thought I’d have a go at ranking their studio albums. There were eleven in total, not including Magical Mystery Tour and Yellow Submarine which aren’t considered “proper” albums or the US only releases that many of you reading this will know. The eleven albums that follow are their major albums, and the ranking is my opinion only. I go from “worst” to best. Let me know your thoughts.

ALBUM REVIEW: The Beatles – Live At The Hollywood Bowl

live-at-the-hollywood-bowl-57c7e341118e9Released to coincide with director Ron Howard’s new Beatles documentary, Eight Days A Week: The Touring YearsLive At The Hollywood Bowl is a beautifully packaged live album which was actually originally released in 1977. However this new edition has been sublimely remixed and remastered with the addition of four new songs that weren’t on the original album. The songs, all recorded from various shows the band played at the Hollywood Bowl in Hollywood, Los Angeles, sound fantastic and about as fresh as if they were performed and recorded yesterday.

The Beatles Isolated Strings Track: Yesterday

Released on the 13th September 1965, exactly 51 years ago to the day as I write this article, Yesterday continues to be one of The Beatles’ most popular song, even though Paul McCartney was the only Beatle who performed on it. In this article are the incredible string arrangements by Sir George Martin which can be heard in beautiful isolated form right here. Take a listen:
