Eric Clapton Isolated Vocal Track: Lay Down Sally

As a whole I think I tend to listen to more live recordings than I do studio albums, especially from the late 60’s and early 70’s. That period for me is second to none when it comes to live music. The places bands took music, including those listed below, have never been reached since in my opinion. At least not the same extent. So, the following are my top five live albums of all time. CLASSIC ALBUM SERIES #11: Cream – Fresh Cream

fresh-cream-4f7bebff487b750 years ago today (9th December 1966), Cream released their debut album Fresh Cream. It may not be their most accomplished album but in my eyes it’s still a landmark album that defined a new era of blues music. Unlike their later albums, Fresh Cream doesn’t include any songs that would define a generation but what we have is a superb blues record, blended with aspects of rock which equals one of the best albums form the mid-60’s.

ALBUM REVIEW: The Rolling Stones – Blue & Lonesome

blue-lonesome-58445556b918eThe first studio album in over a decade sees The Rolling Stones return to their roots with an incredible blues album containing nothing but covers of classic blues numbers. There’d been a lot of speculation over the last few years as to whether the band would ever return to the studio, and even though there isn’t an original number anywhere on the album, Blue & Lonesome is one hell of a musical statement from the greatest rock and roll band of all time.

OPINION PIECE #5: Top 5 Favourite Studio Albums // 2000’s

As these opinion pieces have gone on I thought I’d find these lists easier and easier to do. After the 80’s, which was extremely difficult, the 90’s was relatively easy but this one turned out to be harder than I thought it would be. Turns out I have a large number of favourite albums from the 00’s and it was tough deciding on which ones would make my top five. However, I finally did it.
