SONG REVIEW: Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds – Holy Mountain

I’m not the biggest fan of the Gallagher brothers, in fact I’d go as far as saying that I detest Oasis. What can I say? It was either Blur or Oasis and I was and will always be 100% Blur. But after hearing Noel Gallagher’s latest single from his upcoming album Who Built The Moon? I may be finally ready to listen to their music. Well, Noel’s solo music anyway. The first single is called Holy Mountain and it is superb. Take a listen:

What attracted me to the song initially was the sound. It doesn’t sound like anything Oasis ever did and I’m ok with that. A lot of people (Liam included) have been bitching about Noel’s change in musical direction but those people appear to be stuck in the past. I think it’s excellent and has a 50’s/60’s vibe to it whilst managing to sound modern. I absolutely love it and if this is anything to go by his new album will be fantastic.
