The Beatles Isolated Piano Track: Lovely Rita

Recorded between the 23rd February and 21st March 1967, Lovely Rita is a song penned by Paul McCartney and one of the (many) highlights on the Sgt. Pepper album. Like many Beatles songs during this period there are many layers to Lovely Rita, but what we have below is the isolated piano track from the song.

Played by Paul, the piano is drenched in tape echo which gives it that wonderful effect. As wonderful as the piano sounds on the full studio version there are parts that aren’t as audible compared to others which makes this isolated track particular exciting to listen to.

  1. Yes that’s the first thing I thought re. solo – that it is Martin. But I suspect it was also speeded up. It’s interesting how rudimentary Paul’s piano playing was at this point.
